Eric. The former owner of the house I recently purchased got hoodwinked into buying an 80 gallon electric water heater (which sits right next to a gas furnace) It is 1 1/2 years old and cost over $900 including installation.
Its a small 1 bathroom house. I live alone and spend at least 10 days a month in hotels, for my work. It drives me crazy that I am keeping 80 gallons of water hot, for 200 showers and less sinkloads of dishes a year.
Should I just bite the bullit and buy a 30-40 gallon GAS one and throw the virtually new/old one out? Can I save by turning it off while I am gone?
