Unfair work practice?

related:www.alalabor.state.al.us/

I left a permanent position at the company I currently work for and stayed on PRN (as needed basis) for 10 months. I worked on weekends as asked/needed. At the time of returning full time, I was told that I would be able to keep my original hire date and benefits earned after my 90 day probationary period (as an incentive). This was 8 months ago. Today I was told that my return date will be my hire date and all benefits that were promised to me were no longer in effect. (I now have to wait 12 months to take a vacation, etc). This came about today after a known trouble making co-worker filed a grievance about this. She claims I was "bragging" about this but I have never mentioned this to anyone. Isn't this a form of slander? Can an employer make a promise like this then suddenly take it away --- Is this legal? Please reply to: hteresa967@aol.com
