Ufdta? Or something like that.....

Scandinavian Expressions

I grew up in Minneapolis where people said "Uftda" or something like that all the time.  I was wondering where it comes from and exactly what it means?  Also, if I have it spelled correctly?  It's so common there, but I can't find any information about it.  Thanks!

Momma10us, I lived there too for a short while and I asked a store clerk what that meant and she said that it is just a Sweedish expression of joy. But maybe Arnold Schwartzenagger (however he spells his name), I mean the movie star/Governor of California) Maybe he can answer that better. Yes, similar to the Greek expression of "OOPA!" which is joyful, as Barbara C. mentioned previously. ~Dee
