FAT1873ric: Your explanations and illustrations are very good, thank you. I'm tempted to buid a two tiered garden (vegetables combined with shrubas and flowers for camo) on the side of my house near the front yard. I live on a hill so the east side of home's garage is level with existing ground, while the west side -the green insulation board on the fondation wall can be seen-due to run off, prior to gutter above being installed. With some excavation, I can remove about 2.5' of clay soil depth adjacent to the found. wall without getting into drain tiles. I have huge red sand stones to create the multi level retaining walls (match the exstg. stone placement and elevations in front of house). In order to beautify the vegetable garden, I'm thinking of planting taller shrubs near the house wall (to camo the tall tomatoe plants when they grow), then mixing in flowers - front bordering the tiers of vegetables. Sorry if this is confusing...I normally make sketches. Do you see anything aesthetically wrong with the concept? My neighbors on this side will only see this when they enter their garage or are walking around. This would be directly next to a perpendicular retaining wall and walkout basement patio, as you approach the back yard. I appreciate any words of wisdom. One more thing, I picked this spot as it will receive the most amount of unobstructed sunlight and night warmth from the house. Thank you again. Frank Tombazzi
