I believe we are made in the image of God in the sense that we have intelligence, will, the capacity to love and to a certain extent power over the Earth. We are also spiritual beings with immortal souls

I know that's a short answer.

The reason god made mankind in his image was god is a perfect being in everyway and he wanted mankind to be perfect also but man fell by disobedience to god and it still happens mankind still disabays god and were still made in his image. in his image we look like him.

I agree James.  Also God has the perfect body that does not decay like our bodies.  His brain is far superior, every part of him is superior to our flesh bodies.  That is only my opinion.  For he is Immortal and we are only Mortal.

Be Blessed.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

Man was created for fellowship or communion with God. Unlike any of the other creatures, he has a fundamental likeness to God. Man is not only to have fellowship with God, he is to glorify Him, by what he is and what he does (1 Cor 10:31; Eph 1:12).

Man is also created to do God's will and work. Man was created in God's image so he might " have dominion" over the rest of creation (Gen 1:26, 28,) or perform God's work of ruling the creation in His place.

Man is most fully human when fulfilling the intention of God for him: worshiping, serving, and loving God. Of all creatures, only man has been given this blessed privilege.

Be Blessed

One can search every facet of the Universe, but unless one carries that which one is searching for with them, they find it not.

The image of God is far reaching, I AM that image, and the image of God that I have discovered so far is who I AM. Jesus the Christ is a perfect roll model in which to help discover that image. I was created in the image of God, God is the Creative Spirit, and as such I AM a creative spirit. All that God is I AM also, yet never greater then my Creator. God is perfect; I AM perfect, perhaps not perfect in the vision of man but certainly perfect in the vision of the Spirit. I AM perfect because only that which is perfect would always be perfecting. I AM that I AM.  A Loving God could create nothing less then that which is perfect and that would encompass perfect equality of his creations and noting less then Self.
