We are renting a basement apartment. There is a sump pump located in one of the bedroom closets. A few weeks ago the entire floor of the closet was flooded. We contacted the landlord and he had a plumber come out and replace the sump pump (he said it was broken). Like I said, this was several weeks ago. Everything has been fine until this morning. There is a horrible sewage odor coming from the new sump pump. Nothing around it is wet but it smells like you wouldn't believe! I'm going to contact the landlord again but I'd like to know what could be causing thi??? Thank you.
