Social Anxiety

I'm a victim of Social Anxiety Disorder.

I feel it impossible to open up and share my views with anyone. Except a few immediate family members. I cant talk beyond a few words to anyone. And whenever somebody approaches me my mind usually goes blank. I mean even those people i meet everyday at college! I do have a group of freinds, with whom i just tag along. or talk on a very superficial level.

I want to connect. I need to feel a sense of belonging. Please help. Badly need guidance.

I feel you are suffering from a sense of inferiority. I can't say why? but I think you might have been hurt by a terrible incident in the past and you still have not able to forget that incident. perhaps you had been badly humiliated or betrayed. The best possible way would be to think positively and you should interact with people more often even though you may not want it. do yoga, even that helps.

First of all, why do you feel it impossible for you to open up and share your views with anyone ?

I think most of the time this kind of problem arises when you lack confidence in your self. To me you seem to have some kind of inferiority complex. The best solution that works 100% is just read Bible every day, and I am sure God will not only answer your question but also He will give all the strength. Let me know afterwards.

Good luck

Laugh more: tears cloud one's vision.

Social anxiety disorder -- SAD -- is one of those "new" diseases we hear so much about these days.

Instead of the kid being a completely uncontrollable, rebellious little brat, some of us call her "ADHD."  And stuff her full of Ritalin.  Easy default and improper treatment!  The kid pays the price by thinking all her life that she's neurotic and unfit for work.

Now, when you go to college and find that leftist troublemakers grate on your nerves, leftist teachers threaten to flunk you out unless you internalize their leftist political bias, and left wing extremist newspapers are required daily reading, that creates enough anxiety to make the most robust person feel weak and hopeless.

The dismal and bitter outlook of having to deal with these lunatics and their leftist brainwashing all your life is another cold and hopeless downer.

Who would want to socialize with that gang of lunatics?

Honey, it might appear that you have you will have to endure that all your life, but rise to a new hope: these people will come to their senses once they spend a few years on welfare, with fluff degrees that will never get them a job.  As they go broke, you will find that your conservatve and disciplined approach to education toward a well-defined and practical career paid off handsomely.

Granted, atheists and leftists will always play games and grate on your nerves, but once you are done with college, you don't have to kowtow to their games anymore.

Two additional thoughts. The person who responded recommending the emo website, had a good self help suggestion - good site. Secondly, you state you are in college - you school should have the professionals i refered to available to you for no extra fee.
