you can prune them anyway you like. They are wild and will continue to grow.

 

I would leave it because they grow naturaly, but I really don't see any harm either way

Out of the center and the plant is getting taller. Is there a pruning method to keep my plant I have a terrific sword that loves my tank, but after pruning for a few years, it is starting also try cutting it in half vertically, and get two plants out of it. Both sides should grow back
