Regarding installing a dead bolt issue. You might want to mention a proper deadbolt is very important. The one you instaled should have been a key type on both sides. With the glass window right there, it is easy to break the corner of the glass, reach in and turn the lock to allow yourself in without being noticed. Burglars are known to place their jackets', shirts', or anything that might muffle the sound of breaking glass. Don't forget very few will use a glass cutter.
