Outrageous interest on bill owed

they said i owed was wrong,thank you for your help.d go sky high.And the amoubill collecting laws some one called saying they were collecting my hospital bill;they gave no name,no phone number.They said if we didn't pay in a couple of days,they were going to charge me 10% a DAY .Can they do that.?my husband hasn't been getting much work,wants to pay it,and he will,when he can.somethings not right.At 10%a day,it could go sky high.Thanks for your help'I never got a bill in the mail

if it is a collection agency hired by the hospital they should send you a bill with thier information. it sounds like a scam to me so don't send anyone anything until you establish where the money is going. if it is from a public hospital that recieves funds from the government you do not have to pay the bill if you cannot afford to. hospitals that are public have to give out care to people who cannot afford to pay. it does go on your credit reprt if you don,t but if you can't afford it you can't.
