Obama's Plan For Taking Over America's Hospitals ?

Here is the Obama plan to place hospitals in the same position as banks and GM! Stress the hospitals through whatever means(regulations) to use up all their funds, and place them in positions of closing,or,have the government take them over to stay open. Sound familiar?

Obama has made the statement."I don't want to hear them(hospitals) crying "poor mouth" until their bank accounts read $0!

Private (Catholic) hospital systems (eg. Daughters of Charity) who have for decades provided care for the poor and destitute of America and the world, are not exempt from Obama's plans. He wants their money too, but how to get it? Private denominational hospitals have always treated those who cannot pay, but how do you get control of them?

Stay tuned!

The lines are drawn in the sand, the American people are alive and awake, well most anyway.
Kick it and call names, Let the Freedom Ring

Hospitals, clinics already stressed.

County, State hospitals getting smart.

Law says must service all no matter what and illegal immigrants can have all services without any pay.

So State hospitals say OK can only give you appointment on thus and thus for surgery, they go to clinics, Speicalty Clinics, where people have appointments and then they get service.

Most of them uncircumsized, they get constrictures on penis, they get free circumcision via clinics and docs must accomodate.

Illegals bringing this Nation to it's knees.

Look it up, ask the pros, they will tell you, we have a problem and I tell you now, not going away.

Now this idiot wants free dental for homeless.

Hell I gonna stop working and live in ditch under bridge.

Why not, free everything.  Oh wait, I am white and educated, crap man, guess gotta keep pluggin on or die.

Well perhaps death better than living under Obatty.

When are we going to get rid of this Tyrannt??????

No guts no glory.

Hello MarineReconDad:

I'm an accountant who has worked for over ten years in the health care field and especially with large hospitals.

Just because a hospital or clinic services indigent (poor) clients does not mean they are not seeking reimbursement from either the state or federal government for these patients.  If these patients qualify for either medicaid or medicare, the hospital will be reimbursed.  It's just a matter of submitting the appropriate paperwork and getting them qualified.  In addition to these programs, there are other avenues in which hospitals can obtain "publicly funded taxpayers dollars" to reimburse them for "all or a portion" of their indigent patient costs.

I suspect the rationale for including these hospitals in this proposed program is that they are receiving federal and state dollars.  As long as they are accepting public funds, they can not expect to be exempted for the Obama administration's proposed program.  It would simply be "unfair" to other health care providers who are also receiving taxpayer dollars to do so.

Sincerely,

Gail Cooper

Exactly Gail, and you have hit the nail on the head. If the hospital receives government money they will be under the control of the government! Not under the control of their board of directors, regents or whatever self-governing body they answer to.

This means the government will dictate salaries for medical professionals,(doctors, nurses, technologists and yes accountants). This is why there has been a sunami of nurses leaving the Canadian health's systems for years!

The Obama plan wants to reimburse hospitals for patient care( to be reduced by 2/3 of the current reimbursement rate), and have the hospitals reimburse the physicians. If you have been just in accounting and have had no physician contact, I will tell you this will not fly.

How many hospitals do you know who do not receive MediCare or Medicaid reimbursements? I know of none.

MRD

Hello, MRD:

Don't insult my intelligence.  I have worked with physicians and numerous other managers and administrators on both the clinical as well as the administrative side of health care.  Your question gives those who are uninformed the impression that private, denominational health care providers receive no reimbursement from state and federal governments for servicing indigent (poor) clients.  In fact, your most recent post confirmed all the points I made in my initial response to your question.

From the way your question is composed, you don't believe health care providers that fall into the category that you outlined should have to spend money in order to be in compliance just like all of the other health care providers when the new health care reform regulations go into effect.  MRD, in the real world, you usually can't have your cake and eat it too!

From what I understand, the proposed legislation is still in the "developmental stages" and if your organization has issues with it, they should be presented to the individuals in Congress who are reviewing health care reform.  I doubt seriously, if the average American who is financially struggling to provide for their families is overly concerned with your plight.  Realistically, you can't expect to receive taxpayer funded dollars and not fully comply with the necessary regulations.  From what I gather from your last post, your organization obviously needs them.

Sincerely,

Gail Cooper

At NO time, did I say that ANY institution should not comply with Federal regs, or would I propose that.

I DO NOT feel that the government should ever have the ability to to take over these facilities(under any guise) or demand the money that these "successful" institutions have been able accumulate.

Why should they, if the follow the government guidelines be requires to turn over any of their finances to the government?

Instead of the "redistribution of wealth " ,why not just close inefficient hospitals?

I'm sure Obama could use the Joint Commission On Accreditation Of Hospitals to accomplish that task.

But ,let's just say for argument ,the Catholic Hospital Association, says"fine we are no longer in the hospital business in the United States", that is a lot of people who are taken care of (much of which is indigent care) that will need to be picked up by the US health care system.

And lets look at the actual health providers (nurses) there is already a nursing shortage in the United States, you place another 11 million people (those which are currently uninsured) into the system who will take care of them?

In both the British and Canadian systems nurses left the profession in droves, and have not rebounded.

My plight is NOT about my or any other organization making money. My plight is putting a system in place that will seriously curtail health care in this country. Denied care ,long waits for routine diagnostic tests and surgeries. Denied clinical trial drugs for oncology patients.

The bottom line, I could give a rats ass if any hospital makes "one thin dime", but government take overs of hospitals under the guise of "improving health care" is just plain wrong!

I am sorry that you think I insulted your intelligence, that was not my intent. The intent was top question the government's authority to take over the health care system in the manner that they intend.

Hello, MRD:

It seems to me that you are attempting to gather public support for your organization's plight by using the shortcomings of socialized medicine in the UK and Canada as scare tactics.  If improving our current health care system is really your intent, you do have the option of forwarding your objections to the parties in Washington, D.C. who are reviewing this matter.  Realistically, if you don't want any government oversight, don't accept government funding.  It's just that simple, however; I doubt seriously if you will be able to operate without it.

I sincerely believe that the U.S. can devise a health care system that will work for the overall benefit of the greater good of the American public.  You really should stop rattling that tired "socialized medicine failure Sabre" and become part of the solution.  Thank GOD we have these systems to serve as examples of what works and what does not work.

Sincerely,

Gail Cooper
