Numbness after cartoid surgery

on 3/25/09 I had right cartoid endarterectomy. I saw doctor 4/18 and explained numbness on whole right side of neck which has since increased in the feeling and feels very tight. He said takes almost a year to heal. Does this sound right? I have another appointment in October. Should I wait??????
