You probably want to keep this vehicle all original am I right? Problem is that filter is no longer made and even so, in 1956 gasoline wasn't as refined as it today and the original designed filter clogged often. However a replacement universal inline filter is available from just about any auto part store or you can order online from this web site I found that specializes in old classic pontiaces:
