Mm and me

I am angry at my mom and at the same time I feel sorry for her.  I told her that I was going to take out the bags in my bedroom closet and contact the floors with new contact paper. She gave me a hard time about it. She said to me that she wants to paint the floor first.  Then after diner I took out one side of my closet because I was going to try and rearrange it.  When I took a break I went into her room and she asked me what was I doing and I told her.

Here are the two things that I am upset about with her:.  She told me that I should go back and forth with my clothes for each season.  I told her that I have to many clothes to do that. And in addition the clothes that are hanging in each closet have two or three things on each hanger. She gave me some cock-n-bull that if I put away my winter stuff I wouldn't have this problem.  She knows that I asked her for the den closet so I wouldn't have to do that.  So I am angry at her for that.  And very bewildered by what she said.

Also she asked me "Do you need the clothes in your drawers".  I got a little miffed at this.  I asked her what she meant by that and she said "Are you wearing them" and I said "yes"  Then I asked her "Are you saying that I should give away" and she said "No' then I said something which made her say "I would never tell you to give anything away"

I asked her later on what she meant by "Do you need" and she said "Do you wear it now"

Am I reading into everything she said.  Help.  I am angry and upset.

Oh dear, voterperson. Just when things were going well between the two of you.

Okay, it looks like we're heading back into the same territory.

Your mom's tactics are probably a little heavyhanded, but I think when it comes down to it; she's correct.

You DO have too many clothes and you ARE obsessed with your appearance. You use your clothes as a crutch to make yourself feel valued and loved, as well as loveable.

You have a poor self image and you rely on others to compliment you on your clothing in order to feel good about yourself. When you don't get compliments, or when you get negative comments, then you spend hours (sometimes days) obsessing over why that person didn't compliment you; or what they meant by their comments.

PLEASE, voterperson. You are a full grown woman in your 50's. If you cannot move out of your mother's home and into a place of your own, then you MUST seek counseling in order to help you get to the bottom of this emotional minefield you live in.

You will not ever be free of this kind of garbage until you do.
