Love our neighbour?

who is our neighbour?

is it limited to the person(s) that live next door to us?

if not, then why do we consider the afghan and Iraq nations as our enemies?

9/11 was a terribly wicked act, but we for our part day after day show a lack of respect for people's lives when we sell them tobacco in exchange for money, knowing full well that what we are selling them is extremely harmful,

but we seem to have deadened our consciences and why?

because we value money  so much.

yet if for one month all food rotted over night and became uneatable and all that was left was money, could it sustain and keep us alive?

and if all food suddenly tasted of tobacco and ashtrays, would we still eat it?

of course we wouldn't, because we appreciate food that tastes good and natural.

yet we are willing to encourage each other to turn our fresh clean breath into a foul smelling breath caused by smoking tobacco.

so you see, even if we won all the wars we are fighting, the fact is we would carry on killing each other with tobacco in exchange for money.

Loving your neighbor is not limited to those who live next to you, but I believe it means everyone around you. The kindness you put out into the universe will eventually make its way back to you. Peace, love and harmony.

amen to that.

i just feel sad that the earth that was created for the human family, has now been almost ruined by the human family.

for every baby that is born they have come into a world in which people set traps for each other because it is the norm now to cause someone to stumble in order to keep oneself up.

it is a wonder people start families anymore because the world is so messed up.

it is a dangerous place for babies and adults...yet it is us the adults who have messed the world up.

we cannot continue setting a bad example for future generations who think it is ok to continue dominating each other to our injury when that is not necessary.

human beings are a simple creation, we have everything we need to sustain and keep us alive, yet somewhere down the line we introduce cigarettes and slowly but surely people start using it and sure enough it ruins them to the point of death.

after the very first person that died it should have been banned...but no...it continues to be produced sold and consumed and people continue to die.

yet we are fighting out in Afghanistan and Iraq  to stop people being killed and ill treated, yet right here in our own country, we show a lack of respect and concern for human lives.

that bothers me alot.

How Far-Reaching Is Your Love?
“You must love your neighbor as yourself.”—MATTHEW 22:39.
WHEN Jesus was asked which is the greatest commandment, he answered: “You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.” Then, he quoted a second commandment similar to the first: “You must love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37, 39) Yes, love of neighbor is a mark of a Christian. Indeed, if we love Jehovah, we must love our neighbor. Why? Because we show our love of God by obeying his Word, and his Word commands us to love our neighbor. Hence, if we do not love our brothers and sisters, our love of God cannot be genuine.—Romans 13:8; 1 John 2:5; 4:20, 21.
2 When Jesus said that we should love our neighbor, he was speaking of more than friendship. And he was referring to a love that is different from that which naturally exists within families or between a man and a woman. He was speaking of the kind of love that Jehovah has for his dedicated servants and that they have for him. (John 17:26; 1 John 4:11, 19) A Jewish scribe—who, as Jesus discerned, was speaking intelligently—agreed with Jesus that love of God should be “with one’s whole heart and with one’s whole understanding and with one’s whole strength.” (Mark 12:28-34) He was correct. The love a Christian cultivates both for God and for neighbor involves our emotions and our intellect. It is felt in the heart and is guided by the mind.
3 As reported by Luke, when Jesus said that we should love our neighbor, “a certain man versed in the Law” asked: “Who really is my neighbor?” Jesus answered with a parable. A man was beaten, robbed, and left half dead by the wayside. First a priest and then a Levite walked by. Both ignored him. Finally, a Samaritan came along, saw the wounded man, and acted with great kindness toward him. Which of the three was a neighbor to the wounded man? The answer was obvious. (Luke 10:25-37) The man versed in the Law may have been shocked to hear Jesus say that a Samaritan could be a better neighbor than a priest and a Levite. Clearly, Jesus was helping that man to love his neighbor in a more far-reaching way. Christians too love in such a way.

hi,

thank you for your response.

i agree with what you wrote, and it is good that you wrote it because it acts as a important reminder as to what loving god and our neighbour truly means?

and yes it must have shocked the man when jesus said that it was the very one that was not considered as a "neighbour" was the one who proved to be a neighbour in that he helped the man who had been beaten and robbed.

i have actually experienced that neighbourly love many years ago when the good news was shared with me by 2 of gods respresentatives "jehovah's witnesses."

and even on this very day they are using their time to bring that good news of gods kingdom to people(their neighbours) all over the world.

they give of their time and selves willingly because they are have something of real and true value which is in fact what mankind on whole is searching for which is answers to the problems that plague people.

the source of the answers to our problems is with our creator "jehovah god"

yes it is true.

he by means of his ransom provided by his son jesus christ has opened up a pathway leading to release and relief from sin and all its bad fruitage..i.e, death and imperfection which is the result of the rebellion which started in the garden of eden when eve and adam chose to rebel and decide for themselves what is good and bad, despite god's warning of what would happen if they disobeyed him.

they chose to side with a wicked rebellious angel who became known as the original serpent  satan the devil.

yes, he mislead eve  who then enticed her husband adam to rebel.

they lost all the good god had given them and eventually died...we being their children inherited their imperfection so that is why we now die.

however, since we all die in adam, we can also live by means of jesus "the last adam" in that due to his obedience to god, we  can be forgiven for our sins and inherit  everlasting life.

so in short, how we respond to the good news being preached throughout the entire inhabited earth, will determine whether we will gain everlasting life on earth under gods heavenly government which will soon replace all governments on earth who have failed mankind on whole and are in fact controlled by the invisble wicked spirits satan and the demons.
