Liver cancer -adenocarcinoma- treatments, progression of disease, and will he suffer alot ?

My husband was diagnosed with adenocarcinomunconventional a 2 weeks ago. They have started chemo using Gemzar. They think it started in his gall bladder or bile ducts but the tumor is in his liver. What treatments are available other than chemo, is it fatal ? They say if he responds to treatment - maybe he has six months.. If he doesn't respond - maybe 2 months. Is it always fatal ? I don't believe in stamping an expiration date on anyone. Anyone out there who can give me insight as to what to expect during his treatment or how it will progress and the symptoms as it progress?? Will he suffer alot of pain?

Yesterday's gone and Today is going fast, Tomorrow is all we have, Until it to has passed

Hopeful spouse, Unfortunately it is always fatal, with the exception of a liver transplant. Once the liver is involved there isn't much that can be done. Chemo can prolong the duration of the disease, but will not cure it.

Yes, he may experience extreme pain during the process, but there are many medications that can subdue it. I am so sorry to hear about his diagnoisis, It's not news anyone wants to hear, much less live through. Enjoy what time you have remaining and make the most of everyday left.

Life does not go on forever, we are all going to succumb to one disease or another, it's just a matter of when and what. It's the time you spend together that counts, not the number of days. AND, he could live much longer then doctors predict, medicine is not an exact science, and no one knows for sure just how long each of us has. So Take it day by day, and the best of luck to both of you. You both have my deepest sympathy and my best wishes.
