Miguel Bernal Jimenez, composer
During the years 1954-1956 I studied composition with Dr. Miguel Bernal Jimenez at Loyola University (New Orleans) College of Music where he served as Dean. He encouraged my compositional efforts, kept me on the Dean's List and nominated me to be included in Who's Who In American Colleges and Universities. To the best of my knowledge, I was the first person ever to enroll and graduate in the newly formed program of composition. I was privileged to form a strong and beneficial relationship with Don Miguel and his influence has been profound on my own development.
His Three Volume text: La Technica de Los Compositores was used during this period. I still retain my copy (in Spanish) along with all worksheets, comments, notations, etc. I would like to know if this work (La Technica de Los Compositores) was ever translated into English and published.
