why do people say happy birthday jesus. it shows irreverence. we are not to make light of our saviour Jesus Christ and I feel that people that say this and put it on signs and such are showing disrespect, dishonor, and etc. towards Him.

Thin slices of thought cut quickest.

So who was born on Christmas day? I seem to remember something about a babe in a manger somewhere in there. Would not happy bday Jesus be more of the reason for the season than Merry Christmas?

Victims of circumstance owe it to fate. Victims of choice owe it to themselves.

The reason people say this is that they do not share your feelings about the expression.

"I feel that people that ...." Not all Christians feel the way you do.

It is easy to find Scriptural support for honoring and respecting GOD. There is NOTHING in Scripture that states the the phrase, "Happy Birthday, Jesus"  dishonors or disrespects Him.

Perhaps you would like to say why there are so many denominations?

In His love,

Well, let's consider that everyone is in a different place on their walk with God. Some consider following Jesus to be a solemn, ritual-filled experience, while others consider it to be a freeing, joyous experience totally divorced from the burdens of the old covenant. As Christians, we are not to set aside the commandment to love our brothers and sisters so that we can judge where they are on that path.

Nowhere in scripture are we told to celebrate Christ's birth, so we are certainly not told HOW to celebrate it. I believe it would be much more authentic and in keeping with the teachings of Jesus to celebrate Him EVERY day rather than to make much of one or two days a year.

I agree with the fact that nowhere in scripture are we encouraged or told to celebrate the birth of Christ. You also won't find a scripture that indicates or suggests that the true followers of Christ did this. If you take a look in any encyclopedia, the origin of Christmas is not bible based. It's a holiday that was created and accepted by many. I also believe it shows disrespect to Jesus Christ who also did not celebrate his own date of birth. The 2 incidents of birthday celebrations in the Bible ended in tragedy, even the beheading of one of Jesus's followers. The main way we show honor to Jesus is following in his footsteps, thereby glorifying his Father.

Most people say Merry Christmas.  They run around buying gifts for each other and most often forget what this Holy Day is about.  We shoul be commemorating the birth of God's Christ during this time.  I want people to remember it is the birth of Jesus the Christ that we should be remembering and may be even offer Him a birthday present of our lives.
