Is James Earl Jones III, original member of the R&B group The S.O.S band, related to James Earl Jones the actor? If they are related, if possible, please provide source of information.

They are of no relation. James Earl Jones has been married twice, first to Julienne Marie. Then to Cecelia Hart, they have one son Flynn Earl Jones. My source was Wikipedia, look in the section that says personal life. Did you know that because of a stutter he did not speak for 8 years! He lived mute....and then this majestic voice! The S.O.S. Band! That's my kind of music!
He and his first wife, had no children. Just to clear that up.
