Inebriated speech

I am in a production and my director wants me to be tipsy.  Do you have any advice for learning how to speak as if you're inebriated?

Thanks

Turn off the television and teach your children how to think.

You might want to watch a variety of movies (all drunks do not sound alike).

Two which may help (both have tipsy people as characters) are 'Barefoot in the Park' with Robert Redford and Jane Fonda and 'Cat Ballou' with Jane Fonda and Lee Marvin.

Some episodes of the old 'Dick Van Dyke Show' also have characters who are supposedly drunk, so you might see if you can scare those up as well.

Think about how you talk when you're overly tired or have the hiccups or trying to suppress a burp.

jkgrandma has a great idea.  Watch Dean Martin too...when he was doing his tv show he was "drunk" in actuality he was drinking apple juice according to his kid(s).

Thanks so much.  Your answer helped.  Also have looked at Foster Brooks videos and he must be the master!
