In all of the questions concerning importance of High School GPA I still don't see a clear answer. High School grading various so widely that frankly I fail to see how GPA can even be used. 10 point, 7 point scales. 4.0 or 5.0 scales. Ease of grading, etc. I've seen some, i.e. District of Columbia who have SAT scores in the 425 range and yet average 3.2 GPA.s Having said that, I have a student with a 3.12 GPA that scores 1210 SAT, 27 ACT and 600 or the SAT writing. Due to a 7 point scale a his school his GPA would be 3.41 at a 10 point school ---- or attending an easier school probably in the 3.8 or above range. So --- how do College admissions really make a determination using GPA? I think only 'standardized tests' really tell the story and level the field among secondary schools.
