Hi, ------- Her name was Miriam and she lived in a small vilage next to the Lake of Gallillee (on the western side) named Migdal. So she is known as Maria magdalena saying "Maria from Migdal". Migdal exist at the same place even today. The Hebrew meaning of "Migdal" is tower. ------- Best regards,
