Do I need to put sealant into grouting the outside walls of my granite stone farm house. A damp patch has appeared on the outside of the house, about 6' wide and we have staining on the inside wall. However, the rest of the wall is quite dry and the patch lies below the chimney which probably needs repointing. One builder suggests the chimney and house wall needs to be repointed with sealant included and the whole wall sealed. Another builder says to leave the wall alone and let it breathe as it was intended to be, and just repair the chimney. Is there anyone out there who knows what to do with a Welsh granite farmhouse wall please?
