Help mwith a 14 yr old son please.

what can i do? i have a 14 year old son that thinks everytime i tell him to do something or not do something, he always come back at me with 'well you done this or that'. a couple of years ago he put me under so much stress that i had a light heart attack & here lately the same thing is going on but the stress level is getting much more severe & he isnt the only reason this time for the stress. but what can i do when he comes back at me like that & gets me so upset?

Your reaction to him is his sign that he is using an effective tactic. You should try to maintain a firm stand and to not accept any back talk from him and even punish him by taking away privileges. You are the parent and must exercise your authority. He as your child must obey you. All this of course if what you are asking him to do is logical. He is coming into his teen age years where he will constantly try not to obey you. Your heart attack came about because you put yourself in a position of frustrating conflict. Remember you are the parent and act as one. Don't accept his back talk.
