I have problems installing Windows XP sp2 on an ACER ASPIRE 5720z, the installation program give me a message like "couldn't detect any hard disk drivers"

Before you install XP sp2 (or the newer sp3 for that matter), you need to keep your system up to date by downloading and installing other updates (besides the service pack) from Microsoft. This should bring your harddrive driver up to date.
