Help ! Son not being treated well in jail ...

Hello,

I live in Mississippi ...

My son has been arrested and is sitting in jail. He is sick and has been sick since the week after he was arrested. (arrested february 5, 2009) What regulations are there to provide my son with medical care and why wont they take care of him?  Also, he has told me that he has not been provided with clean underclothes after the jail has told me that they provide them for him. I even sent clean underclothes to the jail for him and was told that they provide these things for him. Is there anything I can do to change this???

Turn off the television and teach your children how to think.

Where is your son incarcerated? You do not give many details, so I cannot try to find a governing agency for you to contact. Therefore, here are a few questions I have for you:

Have you been allowed to visit your son in jail? Can you substantiate any of these statements? In what way is he ill? You must be able to back up these charges with verifiable proof if you expect any governing agency or board to look into them.

If your son is not incarcerated within visiting distance, may I ask how you know that he is not exaggerating his circumstances just a bit?

Also, you state that you sent clean underwear and were told that was already provided. Can you perhaps ask for clarification concerning these issues from that contact person?

Lastly, you may want to contact the facility's chaplain to discuss your concerns; s/he may be able to either allay your fears or reassure you that your son is not being mistreated.
