Asked about “Alfie Patten Teenage Father

If there is a God, would he consider YOU selfish and uncaring?

Most of us would be saddened if all the Tigers went extinct, as well as the Gorillas and Elephants and Cheetahs . . . but we, intellectually KNOW this is happening, and yet we know this is happening and we do nothing. We could call our local Zoo for a list of trusted causes to save these animals, but we (you, not me) don't! Did you know, in Kenya that the patrols that try to protect the Elephants and Rhinos don't have money for BULLETS!!! Your gift of $10 would do wonders, but you watch their plight and then turn off the TV - Shame be on all of you - cause you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem - apathy.

Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Why do the people protecting animals need bullets?  Anyway, I think that there are people that care and don't know what to do to help.  What organization does this 10 dollars go to?

Your direction, not your intention, determines your destination

Most people don't think of saving animals on a great scale. Every time you get a pet from the pound you are saving this animal for possible death, that's saving a life. When you go to the Zoo you pay to get in, you  save many lives but some animals bred and then you replinish some that have died. I am sure there are others I haven't mentioned but this gives you a sample what trivia things the ordinary person does to save animals.

Things could be worse

let me get this straight. you're saying that we should donate $$ so the African game wardens can buy bullets to shoot human beings with? I wonder what your God would think of that?

I hope you are not sending $10.00 to every organization who purposely tries to gain your sympathy through a television commerical. If you are, you are being taken for the ride of your life and will soon be broke. How do you know what they are doing with your money? I've saved many animals, by taking wounded wild animals to the local animal preserve and by rescuing animals from the pound. I give money to my local vet's office for the care and feeding of abandoned animals.Go ahead and send someone you don't know all of your money, but don't sit there and judge others who are actually doing something for animals.

Because 'poachers' have guns and will kill to protect their catch - Ivory and Rhino horns are sought after in China and the Arab states, where animals are not valued for anything but their tusks, horns or skins.  You can't smile and tell them NOT to kill, these are usually very poor people who are being hired by professional hunters and can't earn money any other way but killing what is precious to the rest of the world.  Guns and bullets are an absolute necessity it is the only way the poachers can be stopped.

Getting a pet from the Pound is a good thing. But the animals I am talking about are not reproduced by a breeder - the animals I am talking about are about to disappear from the planet FOREVER.  Forever is that they cannot be reproduced again, we will never EVER see a Cheatah again, or a Rhino or the Great Apes, that makes me sad, and if we can buy a fancy purse, or jewelry, or the finest cashmire sweater and know that $10 would help save an endangered species - IF YOU KNOW THAT!  Then YOU are contributing to the demise of these wonderful species, and IF there is a God, he is going to ask why, when you were told that you could have helped, but insisted on buying things for yourself, that you could have lived without, he will see you as uncaring and selfish.  All of us will answer for our greed and uncaring ways.

Dickie, I would surmise by your name, that you take the negative view on almost every topic.  WE have lots of humans, more than the planet can support, but we have knowledge that many endangered species will be gone in about 20 years, then why wouldn't we value them.  I live most of my life in Africa, Africans breed like rabbits and the men don't take care of the children or lend any kind of support, they just make babies - there has to be a stop to all of this - God put people and animals on the planet - all should be allowed to live with good stewardship - as for killing the killers, OH PLEASE!  With a name like Dickie Doom, you don't really give a shit anyway.  So get down off you soap box and get back to your mall rats.

I don't use products made from animals if I know about it, I don't even eat meat. You  seem judgmental in the extreme. I give alot to charities although I have problems myself . Maybe you are in the wrong business...maybe you need to go to Africa and try to teach about birth control and other social issues. Your remark about African people was unbelievably racial oriented. What chances have they had compared to us in America? In my opinion, before you throw out all these judgemental statements about others you need to take along look in the mirror, or better yet deeper.
