Gender Discrimination???

I am greatly stressed due to a recent change in positions at work.  I understand these things happen but I deep down inside believe that I was changed from my position due to the "higher ups" feeling that a male would be better in that position.  I have been in that position for 4 years and now I got changed.  I got changed two days after hearing my boss telling two coworkers that "there are some males that feel females shouldn't be in the field."  I have done a good job in this position and worked very hard to gain the respect that I have.  Although I have been given every excuse from everyone being crosstrained, that I am stressed and its to boost morale, I still believe it was to put a male in my position.  I was even told that "maybe i will find my future husband (in my new position)."  Also, when I told my boss that I was not stressed, he agreed that he knew I was not stressed and he has not been able to make eye contact with me since he told me about the change in position.  I want to know if it seems that there could be gender discrimination and if so what do I do seeing as it was not stated to me directly?  If anyone has words of wisdom it would be appreciated.  (Also, there were only a handful of us that were moved in the so called "cross training" process.)

There probably was some loose, or joking, talk that you heard.  The answer is probably that you are not as good as the male who was moved up.

So often I have seen a woman or minority play the discrimination card, which puts a heavy burden on management.  I hope that management stands up to this.
