Freud and modern psychologists / psychiatrists

Are any of Sigmund Freud's views about psychological conditions or psychiatric practices still valid?

The discussion about the relevance of Freud's theories nowadays is still "hot". You can find it

here, there and everywhere. I personally believe that no matter how psychologists and psychiatrists will prefer to adopt newer concepts, the basic idea about the importance of the Unconscious will remain forever.

Psychoanalysis (Freud theory, philosophy and treatment method) is still with us, but it is rather rare and not for every one. Many of the patients are rich (the sessions are very intensive – and the training is long), intelligent, and in some case are therapists themselves.

Some part of Freud’s core ideas (especially the sub conscious) are still relevant and used in modern psychology and psychiatry.

I think that you're both right about Freud.  Not every patient can afford -- and not every psychiatrist will apply -- Freudian psychoanalysis.  But Freud's basic ideas will remain -- even if they remain controversial -- for a long time to come.
