Hi, ---------- There is not an "ideal" number.... it depends on the baby's appetite, age and size: some demand more some demand less.... The best advise I can give you is: feed your baby as much as the baby requires and at the frequency the baby likes. ------------ Best regards,

For the first month after birth, babies can feed at least 12 times per day.  Breast milk digest easier and faster, so your baby will be hungier than formula fed babies.  Feed them as often as he or she needs.

Breast feeding an infant has benefits for both the mother and the baby . . . one of them is that there is no 'absolute' schedule! Most babies have their own opinion about all of this -- I know that mine did and so do both of my grandchildren. There is enough difference that there is not a single answer. I call this one, "Baby's Choice!"
