Thin, Fine Hair

My hair is thin and very fine. Someone PLEASE tell me what to use so it will look fuller. I tried Wen and it really did work but I am allergic to it because of all the meds I have to take. Is there ANYONE that can help me? Thanks, really, thanks if you can help me.

There are plenty of hair products and tips out there to help you get some volume in your hair. The tips below are a great place to start.

  1. Step 1
Choose a body-building shampoo and conditioner . Remember to use a light conditioner, though - heavy conditioners can make hair go flat.

  2. Step 2
Look for the following in the ingredients: proteins (keratin and collagen), silicone polymers or polymeric quaternium compounds. These compounds stick to the hair shaft and make your hair appear thicker.

  3. Step 3
Purchase a styling product such as mousse, gel or hairspray.

  4. Step 4
Put a small amount of the product in your hands and rub them together.

  5. Step 5
Run your fingers through your hair and rub the product into your roots.

  6. Step 6
Lift and "scrunch" your hair (that is, squeeze it in the palms of your hands from the ends of the hair to the roots).

  7. Step 7
Let your hair air-dry, or blow-dry it using a dryer with a diffuser attachment. Also, try blowing it dry with your head upside down.

The answer above is a great one. I would add, salon hair care products are of a higher quality than what you can get elsewhere. I like Redken products but I am sure there are a lot of other super ones for thin, fine hair. A protein power pack used at least once per month is also helpful. Color adds volume. All one length is better, or only very light layers. Consider a body wave or loose perm. Sally's sells a medication remover shampoo which should be used before any chemical process, and possibly between deep conditioning treatments. Find a good stylist and be loyal to him/ her. Ask around who is good with your type hair. Be reasonable. No one can make your hair look like a lion's mane. Some cuts just will not work for you. Shorter is better. Chin length or so. The really short cuts are adorable on petite women. Protect your hair from excessive heat from curling irons, blow dryers, etc. If expensive hair care is not an option, beauty schools are a great place to find affordable services. Try to get a Sr. student and don't hesitate to get the instructor involved. Hope this helps.
