Is Don Carlos Mexican Restaurant on Gratiot in Clinton Township, MI, associated with "Don Carlos Speedy Burrito" that opened in the late 1980's with 18-21 seats on Warren Avenue in Dearborn, and expanded with one in Brighton, MI and one at the old Henry Ford waterworks building in Dearborn on Michigan Ave. at Evergreen Rd? The Michigan Ave location closed after extensive flooding due to a devastating rainstorm. I have been trying to locate them for some years. This is the first time I found something on the 'net other than a Don Carlos in Ann Arbor, MI.
The restaurant(s) received rave reviews and was written up in the Detroit Free Press several times. I don't care much for Mexican food, but they had several sumptuous dishes that I just loved!! Even though it has been at least 10 years... my mouth still waters when I think of their big beef burrito and the big made-to-order chorizo burrito, and the chorizo with scrambled egg big burrito.
