Dhs autorization

i get hereTO USA by fiance visa k1. i get my social securty namber but it say

(valid to work only with DHS autorization ). i failed a plication for DHS from 1.5 mountha go and ian still weating.

1- are i can work withought DHS AUTORIZATION?

2-HAW longue time it take me to get my DHS autorization?

This is the link that supposedly lets you check on the status of your case online.

I don't know how effective it is since it is a government website, but you might get lucky and find out what you want to know.

I would hazard a guess that having the social security number and the application to DHS would be enough to be allowed to work while your case is pending, since the number is all any citizen needs to work. But the government has rules upon rules and doesn't follow any logical sense, so better to spend a few minutes on line and check them out.
