I have probably been there, done it, seen it, ate it, felt it, overcame it, smelled it, known about it, met it,  shook hands with it, lived with it, wrote about it, many yrs, and still survived to talk about it  with you.

Maybe you've thought of this already, but a blouse tunic made of the hanky squares sewn together with two for the sleeves, or, make a table cloth just of the squares, or, a kitchen curtain just sew up t he sides and  make a table runner, or just enjoy them as they are.  I would LOVE to have a chance to purchase those hankies...reminds me of the late 40's when everyone had to carry gloves and hankies.  What you think?

You can mix and match your collections. For example use the hankies under perfume bottles or whatever else you collect. If you have pretty bowls or teacups you can put the hankie inside with just a little lace showing out. In other words use them to decorate other things.

I would make them into a blanket/quilt

Make potpourri sacks and add scents and give as gifts or put in drawers to make things smell pretty.
