Hamels' statement is probably unprecedented in Series play. Sadly, it does represent the egotistical, selfish player to a T. These are the spoiled types who've been ogled since day one; the type that typifies the"If I can't win, I don't wanna play', sandbox brigade. One can imagine what Bill Terry or Frank Robinson would have done with a guy like this. What Hamels has done, in reality, is to leave the Phillies with a 24 man roster, one less pitcher, and highly reduced chances as they head into NY. After the Series, I'd waive him immediately.
