Chemicals in our food

I have been watching the story of this one town or area where all of these children are getting cancer and they believe it is from the chemicals in the area left from some past dumping or whatever, that is so sad that these children have to suffer from someones carelessness. I wonder if the water is contaminated in the area and just breathing the air everyday. I wonder how many other places are like this and shouldn't they maybe test other areas to see if there are contaminates or if someone knows that the ground could be questionable.

What I want to add to this is that we are bombarded with these chemicals that cause cancer right in our own food supply. I would guess that most people do not know that our foods, mostly processed foods contain over three thousand chemicals. That means that every day when we eat, we are getting these chemicals in our system and eventually they build up and can cause cancer. I consider myself lucky in some ways, that  I am allergic to most of the chemicals that are placed in our food supply, such as, Aspartame, MSG, HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) nutra sweet, Chlorine in city water, the bleaching agent in white sugar and white flour, Splenda, Sucralose, Acelfame-K, and these are only a few of the chemicals that they put in our food. I don't see any reason for chemicals in our food supply.

I'm seeing a huge movement for organic foods, at least in Austin.  30 years ago, you have to special mail order most organic foods unless you had access to organic farmers local in the season.  Then it was small shops and places like Whole Foods who came about which we shopped at constantly.  Higher prices, but when you have kids you have a responsibility to not pollute their bodies when there are other options.

Now, my wife and I have noticed over the last few years a large increase in regular chain grocery stores and even Costco picking up large varieties of organic foods.  So many people are aware and the stores are trying to provide for the demand.

2 weeks ago a 2nd organic fast food joint jus topened here in Austin we're loving.  It's called Terra Burgers http://www.terraburgeraustin.com/ .  You can get your greasy fatty fix while avoiding the even worse for you nasty chemicles and preservitives.

There's hope!!! ;)

Yes, and I am so happy to see this organic food coming into the grocery stores. My daughter just took me to Cosco and I was amazed at the wonderful choice of all natural foods in there. Only bad thing was it cost me $238.00 to get out the door but I'll have a good supply for awhile.
