Broken Mp3s

So I had a little crash w/my laptop. Somewhere in the back up and restoring of my music something evil happened.

Here is what I think Happened...They were compressed when backed up...and became decompressed at some time or vice versa

Compression has some part to play......

HELP...lot's o' music files and some very rare that I need to have in my life.

If they are broken..they must be able to be fixed? Right? Right?

Stuff from web searches has been less than helpful.

Thanks for your time and help

If you actually downloaded the discs into a hard drive do a computer restore. Just go into all program, then program accessories then pick restore. Or just search restore and go back to a week or two before you dropped you laptop and see if your info will come back with a new restore point. Good luck

Ok, let's clarify.

Had to reinstall my factory disc after a BAD virus infestion

Saved music files to my desk top via a flash drive.  I think in the process, because some of the compressed files hold lots of music files were to large, I opened compressed files and transfered the contents to the desk top as uncompressd..then back to my laptop via flashdrive....

My music files now show up as mp3 but will not play...when scanned with a program such as MP3rt they are listed as "broken"

The data is still within the individual music files...I just can not play them on ANY type of player.

Thanks again.
