What do you say? Haredim: Hosea Chapter 14 : Why is it when things like Shabbat Riots happen Old Testament says things the best. The Preacher said that all nations right now are on the edge of a cliff and all they would have to do is " Take with you words,and turn to The Lord: say unto Him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips. Not knowing all about Haredim practise but from outside looking in one can understand their sadness because many others are allow privileges that totally against The Law to practise. God hates uneven weighs at least the what The Book says.

Elaine, the riots you are referring to are complicated and extremely disturbing. As a practicing Jew myself, I am saddened that the Israeli government has opened the roads in Jerusalem to vehicular traffic on Shabbat. However, at the same time, what the Haredim (Orthodox) are doing is unacceptable. As Jews, we are supposed to be "a light unto the nations" and their behavior is not reflective of this. It is definitely a contentious item in Israel right now, but I hope that the Haredim will accept that not everyone follows Judaism the way they do, and rather than rioting against what is now legally allowed, they should be praying for those "lost souls" (as the Haredim refer to them) to find their way back to religion.
