Eric stromer a question here. Eric, i am replacing a bathroom faucet,i have removed the old one and have all the pieces together for the new one. My question is when and where do i put the plumber's putty and when do i apply the teflon tape?
apply the plumber's putty to the base of the faucet. take a "chunk" and roll it into a "snake" and place it along the outter edge where the water could get under the faucet. don't be skimpy with it. any extra will push out when you tighten the faucet nuts and can be gently scraped off. as far as teflon tape you may not need it. nuts that hold the faucet to the sink don't need it and the water lines should be cone shaped supply lines that press into the faucet to make the seal. would recommend using a basin wrench for all tightening if you don't have the sink off the vanity or off the wall depending on sink style. good luck!!
