Bacterial endocarditis is very serious. Fever and chest pain are the first indications. Blood tests must be collected to rule out generalized septicemia (systematic blood infection). A cardiologist will then perform a T.E.E. (Trans Esophogeal Echocardiography). On this exam the Doctor may find vegetations hanging on the major heart valves. Untreated this ailment can be fatal.
