Rachel, the letter you received should have contacts on it for you to call; if not, try dcf in Florida.  You might think about  deleting your post and reposting without your address and telephone number on.  It's never a safe thing to put your personal information  on a site such as YEDDA.  There are a lot of "kooks" out her (no offense to anyone as there are also some great people here).

It sounds like you have two different case numbers.  Call your social services department, no matter how trying that can be, and let them know about the letter you received and what the letter says.  If you can manage it go down to the social services department in your county and talk to someone there.  They will help you and tell you what the letter is about.  I don't think your granddaughter can be denied benefits.  Sometimes the system gets things mixed up.  And, also, did you have to recertify your granddaughter.  Sometimes peoples benefits get cancelled because the recertification process did not happen.  I hope this helps you.

Smile, it's contagious!

If you  applied for benefits for your granddaughter that is where the problem most likely is at.  All that should have been done on her original case (with her mother) was just to change her address and the names of the people residing in the same household (you) including any new financial information.  Sounds like the case for her with the mother who is now in prison is being closed while at the same time a new case was opened with you (grandmother) as guardian.  Suggest you appear in person and talk with case worker to clear up any misunderstanding and keep case open in good standing so as not to lose coverage.  If you do not act on this promptly her coverage could be stopped even if it is in error.  Good luck.

NEVER EVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION ON PUBLIC WEBSITE.  Suggest you go back and edit your question to remove all of it including Medicaid #.
