Aliya from US

Although my father is Jewish, I still went through the formal conversion process in the US. I am currently 40, and I am seriously considering making Aliya after I retire here in the US at the age of 55. I currently work in the field of education, assisting immigrant students to learn English. I would hope that my teaching and multilingual skills would be useful in Israel. In addition to financially supporting Jewish groups for many years, I am also a lifetime member of the Hadassah. My concern is that the new laws and regulations will impede my future aliyah. Any information on this would be appreciated--thanks!

The law of return which was set up when the State of Israel was established, allows for any person with a Jewish grandparent to move to Israel and make aliyah (this is because those where the laws that the Nazis used to persecute the Jews).  Even if you had not converted, you would still be ok to make aliyah with a Jewish father.

Good luck.
